Recording the second album. Chapter 3
This time our team went recording 'by portions'. Mitya and Stas were the first ones to go. Nikolaev met us with unwelcoming grey sky and pouring rain. But like on a submarine, at Pansound you never depend on weather conditions. The weather is always warm here and atmosphere creative. No sooner than we arrived at the studio, we began the recording of the 4 tracks that left over.
On the first day, as usual, the heart rhythms of the band was recorded - the drums. Dmitriy Opishanskiy, who was our sound engineer all along the Djuice tour, helped us again to get the drums set ready for recording. Owing to his help and also thorough training, Stas did his job at one go! The same evening he went back home to rest. Next morning Oleg took his place in the studio to record bass lines. These four songs he played on his brand new 5-string bass purchased recently in Kiev. The instrument showed great performance and owing to this, Oleg recorded his part in a couple of hours and went off to leave Mitya at the studio on his own.
In the second half of the day Mitya recorded rhythm-guitar parts. Again he used local studio Telecaster, which deep and soft sound became so dear to us since the recording of the first album. But he didn't go home after that as the most important part was awaiting. So the most important guitarist of the band, Misha, came in the morning of the third day to add melody and riffs to the rhythm section.
The fourth day came across as the rainiest and the windiest. However, as we mentioned before, Pansound is a weatherproof studio. Owing to this and also to the friendly professional advises from the sound engineer Andrei Usatyi, lead and backing vocals were recorded just fine. On the way home it was raining cats and dogs (presumably to good luck). We returned to Odessa exhausted but happy from the job done.
There is only little left to complete. And this little is planned in the nearest future:
