PLAYOFF at London School of English Halloween Party
Party concerts are always exciting because here you may cross the usual borders, which ordinary gigs have. LSE Halloween Party was the best one for fooling around, buzzing, yelling and dancing, shortly – having fun!
Our spirits started to get higher a few hours before coming on stage, when Agata, an old friend of the band, put the first touches of make up to our faces. However, we were not the only ones to properly prepare for celebration of Halloween. All the crowd in “Pobeda”, including teachers, students, the school director and even the sound engineer, this evening turned into either a witch or a mummy or a dead filibuster. But it wasn’t scary at all. Everyone enjoyed the evening to the full!
In the first half PLAYOFF appeared in the image of the dead earls and played the dreadfully famous world hits, somehow related to dead, cemeteries, vampires etc. in the following order: “Thriller” (M. Jackson), “Join Me In Death” (H.I.M.), “Otherside” (RHCP), “See You On The Other Side” (Ozzie Ozbourne), “Don’t Cry” (Guns’n’Roses), “Girl, You’ll Be A Woman Soon” (Urge Overkill), “After Dark” (Tito & Tarantula).
In the second half the musicians came on stage wearing their usual football uniforms, and it became clear that the good defeated the evil! Without a doubt, the second half, which consisted only of songs by PLAYOFF, was twice as successful as the first one. Perhaps the image of living turned out to be more appealing than dead?
Apart from music and dancing, there also were various contests and lotteries with prizes like discounts for the education at LSE, champagne and CDs by PLAYOFF. The student called Vera became the bravest and the most active participant. She sang beautifully, danced like a queen and even guessed the tricky tune, so she got two prizes at one go. Congrats, Vera! We believe in you (in Russian ‘vera’ means ‘belief’ – remark for English teachers)!
At the end of the gig people witnessed one more surprise. The Invisible Man revealed his talents to the crowd. He came up to the microphone and, accompanied by PLAYOFF, sang two songs – “Hurt” by Nine Inch Nails è “House Of The Rising Sun” by The Animals. After that he also revealed his face, and we all recognized our teacher Ben J! So the talents in LSE can be seen not only among the students!
Having sang an encore song, this time it was “Professional Something”, required by another Ben, also a teacher, we hurried back home, where shrimps and beer were awaiting to fill our stomachs. The further story is not for public…
